Volk Dyna View Eases Pediatric Vitreoretinal Surgery
Volk Optical reports that its Dyna View lens overcomes small corneas, thick lenses and rigid pupils that can make pediatric vitreoretinal surgery challenging. The wide field of view and small contact surface enhance views and performance in pediatric cases.
The 98-degree static/127-degree static field of view of the Dyna View lens provides visualization of the periphery without the need for scleral depression. The contact lens produces direct images when paired with a re-inverting system. The standard lens magnification of .387 enlarges detail and can be further increased with a microscope to suit individual surgical needs, Volk says.
The Dyna View's 8.5-mm contact occupies less space on the cornea when compared to a standard 12-mm contact wide field lens. Double aspheric glass construction, a signature feature of Volk lenses, results in a clearer view with less distortion from edge to edge. Moran Enhancement Spatula for LASIK Retreatments
Katena's double-ended enhancement spatula instrument (K3-2524) for LASIK enhancements, developed by Mark Moran, MD, of Allentown, Pa., features a modified Paton Spatula on one end and a Fukasaku Spatula on the opposite end. The miniature Paton Spatula has a semi-sharp tip that is used to locate and elevate the edge of the previous flap, while the Fukasaku Spatula is used to undermine, lift and retract the flap. After laser ablation the spatula is used to reposit and smooth the flap. Contact Gordon Dahl at (973) 989-1600.
